Individual Counseling & Psychotherapy
Are you struggling with anxiety, insomnia, or sitting on the sidelines due to fear?
I can help you dive in and discover Relaxation, Rest and Expansion! Anxiety challenges are currently the most common mental health problems in the country. Research indicates that about 18 percent of the population struggles with anxiety conditions each year and over 40 percent of those people are not receiving treatment.
People with anxiety often struggle with insomnia, which can lead to fatigue over time. Most also grapple with some form of avoidance, such as procrastination, waiting for life to happen, staying home, not trying new things, and holding back authentic feelings. Far too many people sit on the sidelines afraid to dive in or even get their feet wet. Why let fear interfere with living an ever-expanding and rewarding life?
I believe the effort involved in avoidance is much bigger than facing the fear. The key to facing your fears is baby steps. I used Dag Hammarskjold’s quote, “to play it safe creates a world of utmost insecurity,” on my journey and it helped me make a huge leap. I have found that facing baby fears over my lifetime has been my ticket to inner peace, empowerment, confidence and joy. So let’s take a dip daily! Just a little splash will do!

I can teach you how to meditate and visualize in my relaxing office. Research indicates that meditation can be profoundly helpful to people with mood challenges and/or stress issues, and it is easier than you think. The key is to, again, start small, perhaps 5 minutes a day 3 times a week. Find your special place to meditate and link your new practice with any habit you have been doing for years. For example, I love my morning coffee so I initiate my meditation practice after I have my coffee. This is referred to as habit chaining, but I call it “hot habiting.”
Starting small is the key to forming life-long healthy habits.
Too many people try and do too much and end up quitting. Be smart and start small.
Research indicates regular meditation can change the structure of your brain – especially the amygdala. Once a new routine/habit is successfully established, it tends to become automatic and does not require the consciousness needed initially.
